Safety is central to our planning at every level. We carry out extensive checks on every leader and have a comprehensive child protection policy in operation. We have at least one first aider for every 10 children and all pool swimming is supervised by lifeguards with (at least) a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification. All our activities are planned with full written risk assessments, and one of the overall leaders takes specific responsibility for the physical safety of the venture. We run the venture with some spare leader capacity so that, in the event of an illness or injury, we can allocate experienced team members to deal with the situation without reducing the care for the remaining children. None of the activities on Lighthouse holidays require AALA licencing.
